It’s amazing what a quick decision to deviate from the plan does. We were on our way to go hike in Escondido, CA, when we spotted a sign that read “Escondido Humane Society” pointing to the left. We turned left, went inside “just to look” and there she was. She had just been rescued with her sister. I immediately connected with this 4 month old beauty. I felt she belonged with us. She had just been rescued the day before. We could not take her with us, so we signed up to adopt her (along with many other people). Five days later, as I was about to give up to the fact that someone else had won the adoption race, we received a phone call from the shelter announcing she was ready for us. It was one of the happiest phone calls I’ve received to date.
Needless to say, we never made it to our hike.
